Crawford Road/McDonald Road Maintenance
The City of Elgin will be completing minor bituminous surface repairs on portions of McDonald Rd and Crawford Rd which fall within the city’s maintenance boundaries. City staff has identified portions of each of the road surfaces that have deteriorated beyond typical maintenance programming. Grinding of existing surface asphalt, minor base material additions in certain locations and the placement of a new ride surface will be completed at pre- determined locations on both roadways.
As such, intermittent daytime road closures with applicable signed detours and message boards will be in place beginning Monday, September 16th through Friday, September 20th 2019.
McDonald Rd will be closed at Crawford Rd for west bound traffic beginning Monday September 16th utilizing Lenz Rd and Dittman Rd as the detour route. All eastbound McDonald Rd traffic will be detoured at Dittman Rd, with the exception of local traffic, utilizing Lenz Rd and Crawford Rd to gain access back to McDonald Rd. This maintenance initiative aims to repair sections of McDonald Rd west of Crawford.
Crawford Rd will be closed intermittently Thursday, September 19th and Friday, September 20th, 2019. Applicable detours and message boards will be set for this closure as well, and depending on the direction of travel, Corron Rd, Bowes Rd, Dittman Rd and Lenz Rd will serve as the designated signed detour route.
At this time, the City of Elgin does not anticipate any overnight closures nor any disruption to late afternoon vehicle traffic. All work will be weather dependent and take place between the hours of 7am and 4pm.
