Township Cemetery District
The Plato Township Cemetery Board oversees the three cemeteries in Plato Township which include:
- Plato Center Cemetery located on the corner of Muirhead and Plato Road
- North Plato Cemetery located on Plank Road ¼ mile east of Route 47
- Baker Cemetery located on Route 47 just west of Burlington Road
The responsibilities of the Cemetery Board are making sure that the cemeteries are well maintained including grass mowing, tree trimming and snow removal. The members are also responsible for the sale of grave lots to interested parties. Prices are $400/grave for residents of Plato Township and $1000/grave for nonresidents.
The Board members also mark out graves for burials and work with monument companies when placing markers on the graves.
The Cemetery Board meets the third Monday of March, June, September, and December at 7:00PM at the township hall.
