Road Permit Information

For anyone who had purchased a lot in one of our subdivisions or a parcel of land in Plato Township you will need to apply for an access permit. This allows you to gain access to your property from the highway. If your property is located on a state highway you will need to get in contact with IDOT (Illinois Department of Transportation).

If your property is located on a Kane County road, you will need to contact KDOT (Kane Department of Transportation). The KDOT office number is 630-584-1170. Jay Seyller is the contact person for permits at the Kane County offices.

Finally, if your property is on a township road or street you can call the Plato Township Highway Department at 847-464-5121. We will set up a time for you to come to our office and fill out a form. It usually takes less than 15 minutes. At that time you would be required to bring in a check payable to Plato Township Highway Department in the sum of $750.00.

After this process is completed, you can then go to Kane County and show them that you have gained your access permit. We can help you determine which highway department you need by contacting our office at 847-464-5121. If no one is available at that time please leave your name and number.
