Meet Kathleen Swanson, Plato Township Supervisor
As your Supervisor I have many responsibilities; pay township bills, including taxes, review budgets and levies each year, file necessary legal papers, quarterly and annual reports, paychecks and our bi-annual newsletter to name a few.
As Chairman of the Board I prepare the monthly agenda and take action on any necessary action items the board of trustees deems necessary. We review items regularly to stretch your tax dollars and use them efficently. As a taxpayer you are entitled to review any documents, budgets, etc. that pertain to the Township and it's business. Feel free to contact me at the Town Hall 847-464-4228. Township Board meetings are held the third Monday of each month at the Town Hall on Rippburger Rd.
The Township Board and myself have been busy securing grants and applying for Land Use money from the county to secure funds for the further development of the Plato Park. This park is open to all township residents. It is located on Russell Rd. next to the Stonecrest Subdivision. There is a historic train depot located there for viewing and tours if requested. Another responsibility of the Supervisor is to assist individuals or families with General Assistance if they request it and meet the criteria for assistance. If you are in need of financial assistance and reside within Plato Township, feel free to contact me at the Town Hall and I will be happy to help you in the process. The criteria is fairly strict(low income), but assistance can be obtained to help with bills, etc. for a short term or one time payment. All information will be kept confidential.

Also, are you looking to get involved with Plato Township committees? Contact me for this as well. We are always happy to welcome a new member with fresh ideas and perspectives. We have the Solid Waste Disposal Committee, Park and Cemetery committees. All are currently operating with wonderful members of our community and we would welcome you!
