Meet Raymond Russell, Plato Town Clerk

I have lived on the same farm in Plato Township for my entire life. My great-grandfather was the first family member to own the farm. I am married to my wife Dorothy, and we have a son Randy. He and his wife, Aleta, have a home on what was part of the family farm. I retired from dairy farming in 1978, and it was at that time that I became the township clerk.

In 1979, I became an official classifier for the Holstein Association, and held that position for five years, while I continued to grain farm. I am now and have been in the past, very active in community affairs. I have been involved with the 4-H clubs for 65 years, and actually helped to organize the Central Wranglers 4-H club, where I was a leader for 22 years. I am a member of the Kane County Fair Board, treasurer of the Udina Cemetery Association, and an active member of the Cornerstone Methodist Church.

The Township Clerk records the minutes for township board meetings, as well as keeping the financial records and preparing budgets and levies. The clerk is the local election authority and responsible for accepting petitions concerning local elections or referendums involving the township. I am available to help find answers to any questions you might have concerning the township.
