Meet Richard Parsons, Plato Town Clerk

I was appointed by the Township Board as the Township Clerk in October of 2008. I am enjoying the new learning experience of the township processes and working with the board. I have always had an interest in community involvement and this role allows a diverse set of responsibilities.

I lived in Elgin most of my life and moved to Plato Township in 2001 where my wife Kathie and I had a home built in the quiet country surroundings. We enjoy the natural elements of living out here. I have worked in healthcare my adult life, I am a Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner, and have a Masters Degree in Business Administration. I work for Centegra Health System as the Director of
Respiratory Care, Neurology, and Sleep Services.

Recreationally, I spend time officiating high school and small college basketball as a Certified Illinois High School Association (IHSA) basketball official. Additionally I educate other basketball officials as a Certified Basketball Clinician for the IHSA. I enjoy going to dinner and the movies with my wife, family time, and playing softball with my long-time friends.

The Township Clerk records the minutes for township board meetings, as well as keeping the financial records and preparing budgets and levies. The clerk is the local election authority and responsible for accepting petitions concerning local elections or referendums involving the township. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
